Workmanship
"For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and it doesn't come from yourself.
It is the gift of God.
It is not the result of your good works,
lest anyone should boast.
For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand so we would walk in them."
Ephesians 2:8-10
If someone buys a beautiful house, unless he was its architect, and builder, he knows he had nothing to do with its creation. He didn't design the intricate moulding around the doors. He didn't lay the foundation or tile the roof. He received the house the way it was made and was happy about the workmanship.
So it is with our lives. When we give ourselves to God, he becomes the builder and architect. He is the one who makes our heart good, who changes our thoughts and leads us on our way. We cannot boast, for we have done nothing. We can only thank God for working on us - for as the Bible says, "We are his workmanship."
