The Narrow Gate.

Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14

This verse always makes me sad because Jesus says few people will choose to follow God. God sheds his light on every person, but most will reject him. He also says this in the parable of the man who sowed seed in his field. (Matthew 13:18-23)

Paul talks about how those who have never heard of God. They have a conscience they can follow, "For when the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do instinctively what the law requires, they are a law unto themselves...They show that what the law requires is written in their hearts a fact to which their conscience testifies, and their thoughts will either accuse or excuse them." Romans 2:14-15

Jesus said, "I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved." John 10:9

I have a real sadness in heart when I think of how many actually do reject Him. If they would only open their hearts...

Yes, and if they only knew what he gives to us: his peace, love and joy.
